Dear Swim Team Families,

As a recent e-mail indicated, swim practices will switch to mornings next week with the exception of the additional Tuesday night make-up session. Please plan on your child attending the time indicated by his/her age-group unless you are specifically contacted about your child changing groups. The groups have been made to have as equal a number of swimmers as possible, which will allow us to make the best use of pool space.

Swimmers in the 11 and up age-group can start bringing their fins to practices if they have them. If your child is in this age group and does not have swim fins, please do not rush out and purchase a new pair until the coaches have had the opportunity to determine if they are necessary for the remainder of the season!

As mentioned previously, practice will be held Monday morning, the day of our first meet! While we do not expect that the swimmers will sit inside all day, we do ask that they make sure they get plenty of rest and eat nutritious meals to prepare for the evening's meet!

Dear Swim Team Families, We have enjoyed working with your children during the start of the MacAulay swim season so far! There have been several inquiries about swim lesson opportunities, so we thought we would send out some information together.

At this time, please direct all swim lesson inquiries to the MacAulay coaches e-mail at coaches@macaulaymarlins.org. In your e-mail, please specify your child's name, age, and preferred lesson time (general: month, day(s) of week, and time of day). The lesson time specified will determine which coach responds to your e-mail, so please include that general information and we will get back to you within 24 hours. We would like to tailor the lesson schedule for your child based on his/her needs as well. For instance, we can give your child one lesson per week or one lesson per day for as many weeks as you would like. We can also determine how many weeks your child takes lessons based on his/her progress. Private lessons are $20 per 1/2 hour session. If you would like 2 or more children to participate in a lesson, the cost is an additional $10 per child.

If you are interested in lessons during June - early July:
Coach Morgan will be available and will therefore respond to all such inquiries. She will be available for lessons Sunday - Saturday after 10 a.m. (except Tuesdays 6-8 p.m.).

If you are interested in lessons during July - early August:
Coach Kristen will be available and will therefore respond to all such inquiries. She will be available for lessons Sunday - Saturday after 10 a.m. (except Thursdays before 3:00 p.m.).

Thank you,
Coaches Kristen and Morgan

Hello Swim Team Families-

After much thought as to how best to utilize the limited pool time we have, the coaches have set morning practices times as follows:

7:45 - 8:15 a.m. = 8 and under group
8:15 - 9:00 a.m. = 9/10 group
9:00 - 9:45 a.m. = 11 and up group

Morning practices begin this Monday (6/13).

We will have practices the morning of meets. They will consist primarily of starts, turns, finishes, and preparing for the night's events.

At this time, assume that we will have practice the morning after meets.

For those who cannot attend morning practices due to work schedules, camps, etc, there will be practice on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8. Only those who cannot attend morning practices that week should come to this practice.

Fun Fridays will start on June 17th. Practice groupings and times for this may vary....stay tuned.

Don't forget.... Monday is our first meet. It is at Wedgewood. Please plan to be at the Wedgewood pool by 5:15. We will warm-up immediately after Wedgewood does. All of our swimmers should sit together and by age group. With free relays being the first events, it will be important to be on time and for your swimmer to be in the designated team area immediately following warm-ups.

If you haven't already purchased the suit, it is the Speedo Quantum black with a blue stripe along each side. Purchase of the suit is recommended but not mandatory. At a minimum, please make sure your swimmer has a suit that fits and that won't fall down or cause them problems during their races.

Also, be sure to write your swimmer's name and events on their arm with a sharpie. While you have the sharpie out, it would be good to write names on everything else going to the meet...shirts, shoes, bag, towels,...... it is amazing how much stuff is left and lost at the meets.

****Very Important**** Please check the following list to make sure we know who is and isn't coming to Monday's meet. Entries must be given to Wedgewood by tomorrow. Please let the coaches know immediately of any changes (coaches@macaulaymarlins.org) Not attending the Wedgewood Meet: Isabell Mullen, Anne Burton, Sara Labadorf, Kaitlyn, Megan and Lars Kunkle, Kristen Leonard, and Rachel Woods. Thank you. Go Marlins!!!

It came to our attention that we generally have a lot of new families on our swim team each year. It can be overwhelming at first, so Ms. Hannam came up with some helpful hints and job descriptions to help everyone understand where to go and what to do once they are at the meet. You can find volunteer job descriptions on the 'Volunteers' section of our website.

Please click to find helpful hints on what to bring to each swim meet.

First things first....write your child's name (first initial and last name) on the top part of their arm with a sharpie. Event numbers will need to be on their forearm. This will make it easier for the child gathers to gather!

Once you arrive at the meet please take your child to the child gathering section and make sure they tell a coach they are there. They will remain there for the meet.

If you are volunteering at the meet, you will then need to check in at the volunteer table. Make sure you are checked in and receive a name tag. You will then wait until it's time for your designated meeting time.

If you are not volunteering and you would like to follow along with the meet, you may want to buy a heat sheet. A heat sheet is basically a program to the meet....listing the order of events and swimmers in those events. They are generally sold for $2.00 at the concessions table.

If you have any question during the meet, don't hesitate to ask a fellow MacAulay Marlin!! Thanks for all you will do to make this a fantastic swim season!

Hello Swim Team Families-
It is hard to believe that it is already April and that summer is just around the corner. Attached are registration forms for the 2011 Swim Team Season.

Registration is being done a little differently this year. Instead of dropping the forms off in Doris' mailbox, we have reserved the Clubhouse on 2 different evenings so that you can drop your registration information off. This way we can be sure that we have all the information we need, you can ask questions, and there isn't the danger of your registration being stolen out of the mailbox. Here are the dates and times of the meetings:

Sunday, April 10th between 5 and 7 pm
Tuesday, April 26th between 6:30 and 8 pm

Registration ends on April 30th. The reason for this date, is so that we have time to place the order for swim caps and t-shirts. We hope to see you back this summer. Go Marlins!
